Club Rules

Aims and Objectives

The Club exists to provide a base for members, especially newcomers to the Gandia area, to meet socially and to make friends; also, as far as possible to provide help and support to members with difficulties.

Club Rules

1. The Club will be multinational.

2. Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 resident in the Valencia Community, provided they are not subject to any legal restrictions of the right to join.

3. The Members at the Annual General Meeting will be responsible for the running of the Club. The AGM will be held in the first three months of the year (normally at the end of January). Extraordinary General Meetings (which will have the same powers as the AGM) may be called when deemed necessary by the Committee or when requested in writing by 10% of the total Club membership.

4. Voting at elections and on propositions at General Meetings will be by select ballot, except where deemed unnecessary by the Committee. Members absent from General Meetings may vote by appointing a proxy and indicating their choices in writing, duly signed.

5. The Club will be administered by an Executive Committee. This will consist of the President, a Vice-President, the Secretary and Treasurer with a minimum of three other members. The Officers, President, Vice-President and Committee will be elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting. The Secretary and Treasurer will be elected by the Committee. Committee Meetings will be held at least bi-monthly.

6. Members have the right to:­

a). attend, speak and vote at General Meetings of the Club

b). elect or be elected members of the Committee

c). be informed of all the Club's activities

d). take part in or assist with any of the Club's activities.

7. Members have a duty to:-

a). conform to these rules and those made by the General Meetings of the Club or the Committee.

b). support the Club in its activities.

c). pay Club subscriptions on time

8. The Club's financial year runs from the 1st January to the 31st December each year. The Club subscription year will run from the 1st February to the 31st January of the following year. Subscriptions must be paid by the end of February each year. New members joining after 1st March will pay full subscription throughout the year.

9. Members may resign from the Club in writing to the Club Secretary. Their membership will cease on non-payment of subscriptions. Membership may not be renewed for members not complying with Club rules.

10. The General Assembly may rescind the membership of a member whose actions have been damaging to the Club after proper investigation by the Committee and after he/she has had the opportunity to explain their actions to the Committee but failed to justify them.

Committee Bye-Laws

11. All members introducing a guest or visitor at a Club meeting must ensure that they are entered in the Visitors' Book and the appropriate fees are paid.

12. No member may spend or collect money on behalf of the Club without written permission of the Committee.

13. No illegal gambling, no drink/drug abuse or violent/abusive behaviour will be tolerated by the Club.

14. Members are to attend Club Dinners dressed in smart casual wear, (no Shorts, Denims, T-shirts or vests for the men).

No seats may be reserved at Club Suppers except for Guests/Visitors and by prior arrangement with the President or his/her representative before the meal.

There will be no smoking at Club Suppers until the coffee is served and then only in the designated area.

15. Any complaints should be addressed to the Secretary and, if upheld, will be dealt with under these rules and in serious cases under the relevant Spanish Statutes.

16. For all functions and events requiring tickets these must be paid for on receipt. Monies can only be refunded prior to the Club's commitment. After that members may sell any unwanted tickets, or if there is a waiting list the Club may be able to help.

17. The Club permits no ’touting’ for business, i.e. commercially motivated advances by members towards other members, or by outside enterprises towards members. Members may advertise second-hand items for sale or services offered on the designated Club notice board. Exceptionally, outside enterprises may, at the discretion of the Committee, be invited into the Club, but only on the understanding that their activity provides a service or entertainment to the broad membership.
